Just purchased my beautiful green 2000 CR-V SE. As an ASE-Qualified mechanic and Mechanical/Electrical engineer I have posted responses to many other boards over the years. I have owned over a half dozen hondas in the past few years, loved them all, and I do most of my own modifications and maintenance. The more I learn about the car, the more I will be able to help fellow CR-Vers in the future. This is my question today- I own an Alpine vehicle navigation system, a wonderful little device that you hard-wire into your vehicle that offers you maps, global tracking, and turn-by-turn directions. I removed it from my old car, a 90 Civic 4wd wagon last week. The wiring is mostly straightforward (acc, power, ground, illumination, etc). There are also some other wires that have to be connected (brake light, reverse light, parking brake which I should be able to find with a little hunting with a test light, no problem. The one wire I need to find, which will be difficult without the factory wiring diagram (I'll get the factory manual in a few weeks, I am broke now) is the Vehicle Speed Sensor, which should be a line coming out of the vehicle computer (used by the computer for transmission shifting, cruise control, and emission control devices etc). can anyone tell me with relative certainty which wire it is? alternately, is there another location where I can pick up this signal in the vehicle (ie under the dashboard)? well, thanks in advance. nice to meet you all!
