I stopped into my local Honda dealer for some tranny fluid and rear
diff fluid (dual pump fluid) for my '99 CR-V. The parts manager
looked at me like he never heard of rear differential fluid or dual
pump fluid. He went back and asked the service manager what fluid
they use in the rear differential. The service manager said they use
transmission fluid and that it's the same thing.

I told him I'm glad I service my own vehicle and that regardless of
what THEY use that I want some rear differential fluid. After
insisting it was the same as tranny fluid he said he doesn't have
anything called rear differential fluid or dual pump fluid.

I guess I'll try another Honda dealer.

I'd go one step furhter and report them to Honda....My dealer is very concerned
as to how I feel when I leave the dealership, and I get surveys asking to grade
them, these guys take that seriously.
