Just wondered if this is a common function, or if I should take my baby to
the (gasp!) shop.

When I brake and am coming to a stop, I hear a pattern of clicks:

click....click click...click

When I step on the gas to go again, I hear a similar pattern of clicks. It
isn't constant-only when I start and stop. Just wondered if all CRV's do it
as a part of the ABS or something.

Thanks for any help.

Not common, loose brake pad, who knows?, get it checked at Honda and an oil
change/lube at the same time.

The Honda service writer will need to know if it occurs during hard/normal
braking or all the time? Do you feel the characteristic pulse of the ABS
during braking? Any information you can give the repair shop helps, hey
they don't drive YOUR vehicle on a regular basis. Drive with all the
windows down and a couple of friends that can listen for the clicking,
probably one wheel if it is a loose brake pad. BE SAFE, don't pick the
busiest road in town to diagnose the problem.

I often hear a "ticking" noise when starting and stopping. I also have a
manual transmission and think it is related to that. Which brings me to
ask, why do Honda manual transmissions have a hard path to reverse? Both
our '94 Accord and the 2000 CRV give too much resistance and results in
grinding sometimes. Any ideas?
