My 2000 Limited Edition took a hit from a moron yesterday.

I was making a left turn down a 2way street, and this idiot coming at me had no intention of stopping for his stop sign until I was in the intersection.

He hit square on the driver front tire, bending the rim and supporting rod, possibly the axle.

What rips me most is the police said it's a no-fault (yeah-blowing a stop and hitting another car)  and my insurance at best could get 50% from his.  My deductible is $500, so if it's $1000 damage, it's not worth it.  I don't want to go through insurance, but this moron can't walk away without some penalty.  All I can think of to do right now is find out the estimate on the damage and threaten him with his rates going through the roof if I go to insurance, or gimmie $ now!  Any other suggestions?

Where do you live?  Laws are different on liability in different States... are you in Michigan where they have the full nofault law?

Ok... in US we have different laws for different States...  with different and various variations of tort and nofault... usually though the wrongdoer is responsible for your damage... apparently it is different in Canada..

Larry,

This is why I joined prepaidlegal and became an associate.  You need
a lawyer in your pocket today if you ever expect to get anywhere near
justice.

Stan

PS  Good Luck
