I have had it since birth and it replaced an 87 I
think. My friends rag on me for driving it so long as I
can have practically anything through my company. The
car looks its age with 198,000 and the original dark
green paint with oxidizing and water spots on the hood
and an assortment of nicks elsewhere. The tinting is
toward purple with mostly air bumps on the rear. The
drivers seat is worn and split so I tape it together with
packing tape that about matches the tan leather. The
radio doesn't work so good as I went through a flooded
area(over the hood and didn't stall) and did something to
the amplifier so that the right front only hisses
unless I adjust for left rear only. I helped that by
stuffing a small towell behind the speaker cover.
Other
than above, I've taken pretty good care of it
service-wise though my acura mechanic gives me those
looks.
I've looked at lots of other cars, including acura, but
haven't been turned on by anything. Mine really runs
good. Its responsive at all speeds: quick and
agile, flat through turns and will turn on a dime. The front
wheel drive gives good traction and I like the drivers
visibility. I just can't find anything better. I don't know
much about cars, but these guys did a heck of a job
with this one.
But its time I must do something.
I'm wondering if the new MDX? might be it. I hunt &
golf so that might fit. I understand that the RL is
being changed to v8 and rear wheel drive, but 2002
sounds far off.
In the meantime, can any of you
suggest things I might do to make my 91 a bit more
enjoyable and less offending to my compadres. Like a good
paint cleaner product, or seat cover thats not too
dorky, or the radio(possible to replace the amplifier
only without some huge investment), or is it possible
to do your own tinting and have it look
reasonable.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks.
