I lost one of the key and I am using a duplicate key for the Civic 96 model, but the only problem I face is that this key doesn't open up the back storage, why is it so, is it normal problem for everyone?

I take it by your post that the same key used to open the back storage unit also? I am not sure why the duplicate wouldn't also? Did you have the duplicate made or is this one that came with the car orginally? Either way to me that seems strange for it not to do both if the orginal one did.

I've had duplicate keys made that didn't work as well as originals.

Maybe there's a problem with the lock of the back storage area?

I have been lucky I guess to have not had that problem with the duplicates I have gotten. It is worth checking into the lock on the storage area like the above poster suggested.

I was provided a pair of keys from the dealer, he never mentioned one is original and other is duplicate. Now I am noticing this problem. I spoke to the person and he says it doesn't open the back storage with the one that I posses rather than the original key.
