Hi gang!
Well, after placing my order for my 2002 CRV in March, I finally got
it(I live in PA)!
Now I'm looking for suppliers for side steps and brush/grille guard. I
don't want the Honda versions.
I've not had any luck finding anything for the 2002 model yet.
Anyone know any reputable sites that may have 2002 stuff?

Jeff

Westin said it is in the works.
No date yet, but "write back in a month". That was 2 weeks ago.

Well, the side steps are for my wife who is height-impaired and has problems getting in the car:-) The brush guards are partly for looks but because we live in the woods and, although not strickly "off-road",

we go down a lot of very narrow abandoned trails with a lot of overhang
from brush and small trees and I'm looking for some protection for the front. Access to our house is tough in the winter with ice storms as the small trees are weighted down and hang into the road.

I like black... but my Polar Bear (Identical to Waag iirc) started rusting
within months. Brought it back the other day and hopefully I will have a
nice new Stainless Steel model in the near future. Oh and the same thing
happened with my PIAA lights, rusting away on me. Stainless ones on the way
as well hopefully.

Sucks though... as I just bought my gunmetal rims a couple weeks before I
finally gave in and returned my bar and lights.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Just curious.......

Why do you need all that crap on your CRV? Are you one of those
people who needs to LOOK like an off-roader, but never actually goes
off-road?

If you really go off-road, like we do in our '99, you dont need the
dead weight, and I doubt you want to drive your new car through brush
so thick you need a guard.

Also, unless you're 4 feet tall, the CRV doesn't require steps to get
into. Put your money into functional accessories, like grippier tires,
lights, all-weather floor mats, tow rope, etc.

If you want lights on the front, get a Westin Safari bar to mount
them. It's low key, but does add an aggresive look without looking
stupid.

(When you see Luxury SUV's with brush guards on them to drive to the
grocery store, it looks stupid, doesn't it?)

Have fun

Good reasons, but why buy a new car if you're just going to scratch it
up? I'd suggest a used 99-01 CRV. They are better for the conditions
you described.

I wanted the bigger engine. Those conditions, I descibed, only exist for
part of the year. The rest of the time I have a lot of hilly country to drive
around in. But, using your logic, why by a new car at all? Afterall, it's
only going to get older and get dings and dents and rust :-) I buy for practical
reasons, not esthetic and I also keep a car I buy until it's ready for the
scrap heap. I have no garage. I needed a car that fitted our budget, primarily,
had 4WD, seating for 4, good mpg, reliability and cargo space. This car meets
all my requirements.

My neighbour has an earlier version but said she has to turn off the AC in
the summer when she has a car full of kids and tries to climb the hills.
The larger engine sounded good and so far has proven itself admirably.

My only gripe is the roof rack system. How the heck can you tie down anything?

I didn't get the base roof rack as I was hoping to find something better.
It is only two cross members and the side pieces are solid. The major thing
I'll be using it for is for transporting lengths of lumber and such. The
system it has is virtually useless for that.

Anyone know of a roof rack system for the 2002?

Jeff
