I just bought a used 88 model. It sometimes makes a lifter like noise. A friend of mine has a similar problem. Is this a common problem? Is it the lifter that is causing the noise?

Yeah, that is probably a lifter in your engine. Usually a ticking sound at idle that goes away after driving a while. Many older Legends have this "charachteristic." I didn?t say problem because it does not harm your engine at all- just may be a little irritating. Can be replaced at around thirty some dollars per lifter plus installation- search for A&H Motorsport.
