4600 sounds liked a good price for what you got. 110k is nothing
for vigs. is it an automatic or 5 spd? either way you'll love the
car. is there any rust on it? the only thing i would watch out for
are a couple oil leaks common in vigors - the distributor, oil
cooler seal, and, if it has ever been removed, the valve cover
seals. its about 200 bucks for a new distributor, which isn't too
bad. it cost me 260 to get the oil cooler seal done, and its about
25 bucks for a new valve cover seal, which is easy to replace
yourself. if there are no leaks you're in good shape. these leaks
have happened on both vigors i have owned. other common problems
are:
alarm going off when you open the drivers door with the key - this
has only happened to me a couple times
abs light coming on (probably from a flaky wheel sensor or
something) - has happened on one of my vigors, but i never had it
fixed
sometimes the ignition switch goes on vigs - never happened to me,
although occasionally on one vigor when you turn the key to start it
will do nothing, but when you back off and try to start it again it
cranks
finally there's a fuel control relay (its basically the main relay)
sometimes sticks and has to be replaced or tapped on. when this
relay goes the motor gets no fuel and just cranks and cranks. the
fuel pump doesn't turn on. this has happened to both of my cars.
other than that, there really isn't anything that ive experienced
problemwise. it may sound like a lot of problems, but they're for
the most part easy to fix and none are that severe. just a heads up
for probs you might face in the future.
the timing belt is probably fine on yours even though you've never
had it changed. i would reccomend checking it though, its
underneath a cover in front of the valve cover (obviously). there's
just 2 bolts that hold it on, its reasonably easy to take it off.
good luck with the vigor and if you have any questions about the car
feel free to post them...
thanks,
brian
