Hi out there. I'm no specialist when it come to Hondas or fuel injected vehicles and was hoping someone out there could lend me a hand. My sister owns a 1990 Honda Civic LX and has asked me if I can fix it. The motor is surging and sputtering (mainly in gear) and is blowing thick white smoke out of the exhaust. I think its the head gasket but I wanted to make sure before I start taking the motor apart. If it helps, the car is also vibrating more than what I last remembered but I havn't drove the car in about 5months. Thanks for your help, happy thanksgiving.

If I remember right when my headgasket went it blew white smoke and Ithink you can also check the oil. It there is gunk on the dipstick that is usually a sign that something is wrong with the headgasket.

Look on the underside of the oil cap after running, if it looks like chocolate milk, you've got headgasket issues
