No idea on invoice - I'd sure like to find out. Our local dealer just had the grand unveiling of the 2002 CR-V's yesterday. They had 3 LX's and 2 EX's, all sold before the end of the day. The LX models were Canadian $30,600 (converts to approx $19,000 U.S.) and the EX models were $33,325 (approx $20,600), so it looks like we are maybe getting a better deal here, except we also pay an additional sales+federal tax of 13%.
I liked most of everything new about the vehicle except the roofline (don't like the raised rail along the edge), and how the engine compartment is wide open to the outside where it meets the firewall (you can see a lot of daylight behind the wheel wells from inside the engine compartment - this is necessitated by the new steering system, which has me a bit leery of buying a new one just yet - I'd like to see it prove itself out first). The "creature comforts" of the new V's are vastly improved, and I really like the location of the emergency brake, and how it is incorporated into the design of the dash. The automatic shifter looks a bit awkward, but it isn't as bad as it looks. I think Honda should seriously consider going with a "push button" style automatic, like the old Chryslers had back in the 60's, instead of the current set up. It would far better suit the appearance of the dash.
Honda has introduced a lot of innovation into this vehicle, and it looks like a winner. My guess would be that you will be able to get them for less than sticker by February or March, once the initial frenzy has passed.
