Not too long ago, someone mentioned that they had gotten a very good price for their new CR-V over the internet. Can anyone tell me how that is done--what sites to use and what the proceedure it? Thanks, P

I used honda.com to locate dealers within zip codes of which I was willing to travel, approx. 800 mile area.  I checked kbb.com and edmunds.com etc. to decide on color, 5-speed, options, price, etc.

I then E-mailed each dealer individually stating my vehicle preferences and indicated I was prepared to buy immediately.
The saying goes, BS WALKS - CASH TALKS !!, give me your best sale price!!

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT:  Dealers that say, "I can get one for you" or "We are expecting that color soon", pass them over quickly", you'll pay more or waste your time waiting for them to try to obtain the vehicle from another dealer.

The vehicle may have extra options, or the dealer may want to add extras, deal accordingly via the E-mail (BRAND NEW IS BRAND NEW).  Print you absolute total price and take the E-mail to the dealer.  If anything is wrong with the vehicle, dents etc., you don't have to complete the deal.  I like this much better than buying serivices that obligate you to purchase.

I saved about $4,000 dollars taking the quote I got at carsdirect.com
to my local Honda dealer. They knew I could get a lower price at
another Honda dealer so they met my price.

about $500 below from a dealer (and they had it in stock)…Love it so far

I checked carsdirect.com and they seem to be quoting higher (by $1000) than edmunds.com around here. When I went in to test drive, and they were asking how much I'd be willing to pay, I told them I'd been checking out the net, they offered the price that was on edmunds.com which is MSRP. I also found out that costco was offering a car pricing deal through various dealers. The representative (200 miles away) I contacted through them went down another $200 bringing the total to $20,220--still $1300 over invoice. Is it worth asking for $500 over invoice pricing or some other method to lower the price further? They keep telling me that it's so popular that they can get MSRP...though they did seem like they'd match the other dealer...   P
