I have an '88 Acura Legend Automatic Coupe, and the engine runs perfectly at all times. However, frequently at warm startup, after the engine has been shut off approximately 15 minutes or more, the engine lacks power, bucks, and seems to possibly backfire through the intake under load. This condition suddenly clears itself in approximately 1/4 to 1/2 mile and the engine reverts to normal performance. The check engine light doesn't come on. Any suggestions on what this problem is, or how to fix it, would be appreciated.

I am not possitive as to the reason but most cars have that programmed in where start up is sluggish until engine reaches operating temperature. This is due to emission control. Cold engine pollutes more. To get rid/reduce of that problem, car manufacturers program in the delay so to reduce emission and pass the test.
