We have been test driving a CRV tonight and noticed a lot of tire
noise on our test vehicle. Is this common or something that will
wear off? How about the pick-up and speed on the highway, read some
report on the car's slugishness. Also the one we test drove had a
dealer installed moon-roof. It seemed to suck out air and cause the
booming vibration on the ear drums. Is that common also? For the
rest, we love the car, (probably without the moon roof then).

You can reply to my email address or here on this site.

Thanks and regards.

I have a 2001 CRV and yes, the tires are noisy. Also I installed an
aftermarket sunroof and don't get the booming sound you spoke of. Were the
front windows down, when the moonroof was open?? That may help lessen the
booming sound.

I also had an ASC after market moon roof put in. The booming sound is
because of the pressure differential. If you open a window an inch (I
usually did the back), the booming sound goes away. I love the moon roof,
especially for long distance driving on a clear night.

The car does have more tire and road noise than I would have liked. I think
the car could do with some more sound insulation, but for round town
driving, it's OK. I use to drive an Eagle Talon with 210 HP and all wheel
drive so at first the lower horsepower took some getting use to, but after
you get use to it, I think the pick-up and speed on the highway is not that
bad.

I have a '98 CRV and haven't noticed accessive tire
noice. I also have a moonroof in mine and it does give
you the vibration on the eardrums between 30-40mph.
Being the speed demon that I am, it rarely is an
issue, plus I always have the stereo on! I would not
have a vehicle without a moonroof. They do have a nice
moonroof attachment that can take care of that noise.

Regards! Greg

Jan

My wife and I have a 2000 CRV in beautiful black pearl. I haven't noticed any tire noise. Have they changed the OEM tire for the 2001 model? Our CRV is a 5 speed and when you step into it, it goes. If you have seen the other e-mails, the gas consumption is a little higher than I expected when you can buy a Subaru with a flat 6, lots of power and almost 30 mpg.
