I'm doing a marketing research paper on Hybrid
Electric Vehicles and I need to ask owners some
questions...
If you own a Honda Insight, can you explain the
major factors that lead to your purchase (gas milage,
price, design, etc).
Also, what complaints do you
have?
I would really appreciate any input on these
questions. It would really help me out a lot.

SO far i dont rally have any major gripes, other
than the stereo is horrible. It sounds like poop
basically. Um the big thing i tend to gripe about is the 400
pound weight limit.. now ive gone over this many times
without anything bad happening *crosses fingers* tho ive
heard of the suspension taking major damage if stressed
beyond its capacity. Its got plenty of pickup and can
accelerate rather nicely if pushed. The electric motor is
rather torque-y. the best ive gotten so far is around
500 miles on a single tank of gas (10 gallons US) tho
as i drive it the mileage seems to be getting
better, perhaps because of the initial engine breakin
period. Anyhow hope this helps at least a little.

I've overloaded my Insight several times, I've
never had a problem. I also know of several other
people who have done the same and I've never heard of
anyone else having any problems either. Have you joined
the honda-hybrid group? You may want to, its mostly
Insight owners, its a great group!

With regards to
the stereo. I actually didn't think the stock system
was all that crappy. But I upgraded anyway! I've got
a Kenwood KDC-x817 head unit, two Kenwood KAC-849s
driving four bi-amped Kenwood Xr-600s and a Kenwood
KAC-929 driving two Kicker 8" L7s in a custom box at 2
ohms. In total the system is rated at over 800 watts
RMS. Its sweet.

I've personally gotten one
(maybe two) tanks over 900 miles. My goal is to hit
1,000 some day. Do you have a manual or a
CVT?

Later,

Matt

Im running the CVT so my mileage will most likely
never go higher than 600 miles or so.. which is totally
fine with me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) the CVT is really kinda neat because
of the fact that there is NO shifting.. now
whatsoever.. its actually a rather strange sensation as the
engine basically revs to 2k-3k RPM and just STAYS
there.. the car accelerating all the way up to 65+MPH and
that darn engine just maintains that RPM throughout
the aceleration UNLESS i hit the S button (dont ask
what S stands for cause i dont remember) its basically
like down shifting but it just lets the engine wind
higher than 3K for quicker accelerations.
