Im considering buying a 1996 HONDA PRELUDE 2.2 VTEC 2 DoorCoupe i would like to know what if anything to check on the car. It has 74 k on the clock and a FSH. What is the fuel economy and how much for tyres and exhausts etc. Any advice would be much appreciated as it is a much bigger car than im used to driving but one id love to own. Regards Marky

I've just bought a siVtec Japanese import, you'll find you should return about 28-31mpg (i'm using the vtec quite a bit at the mo!) and to give you a guide, the back box went the day after i bought it, a standard generic back box was ?150+fitting! glad it was still covered by the garage! P.s. due to the power to the front wheels, i'd reccomend buying good tyres, it's no fun at the lights watching a gti etc getting a jump on you because of wheelspin!

Check for fault lights, especially 4WS (if it has it) and ABS. The lights should all come on when the ignition is on, then go out once the engine is started. My ABS became faulty but at first the light didn't come on for about 15 minutes! Chris.
