(sorry for my english :-))

A lot of people have this problem, so i want to have to most case i
know to call honda and show the list them to my dealer.

My dealer had my car 3 days to check my problems. Currently the honda
techline have no solutions... Just take note that 3 crv here have the
same problems as me.

> The car pulls to the right
My crv went for alignment at a specialist here, and there's no
amelioration. Next wednesday, I will send it back to the dealer and
they promised me to have a solution this day... The honda techline
have no idea!

> Burn odor
It's a conception problem, the techline said "you have to live with
that" . Because of the new lev-II antipollution system, the muffler
get really boiling
(not like a normal car) and the Anti-Rust Coating on the muffler is
burning...

So that's it. I hope they will fix those really bad problem...

Thanks!

Mine does not pull when driving at steady speed, when braking or
under moderate aceleration. Hard accelleration, especially when
leaving a stop will induct a fair (more then I would expect) amount
of tourque steer to the right.
It is most noticable when turning right from a stop.

I have not noticed any more odor than any other relitivly new car.

Got my '02 CR-V EX today. At times it does pull about 10 degrees to
the right. At first I thought it was just the road I was driving
on, but but after driving it for about an hour I knew something was
wrong. I will call the dealer tomorrow and air my grievances.

I also smell a slight burning odor at times. Nothing bad but it's
noticable. I guess I can get used to it but I expect more from
Honda.

So far the car drives superbly but the pull and the odor has put me
off a bit. As I said, I expect more from Honda. I will make sure
to note these problems in the customer satisfaction survey.

The odor seems to go away with some use. I think it is just stuff
burning off the exhaust.

The pull (I think) is a combination of things.
Mine is only noticable on roads with a lot of crown, or a much
rougher right side (falling apart from the edge).
Seems the CR-V like to track any irregularities in the road more than
other vehicles. In other cars more toe-in helps fix this type of
issue, but at the expense of some tire wear.
Mine is not bothering me enough to change anything.

If figured the burning odor would go away. Good to see that someone
is experiencing this "fading away" of the smell.

As far as the pulling is concerned, I have noticed that the steering
is more sensitive to irregularities in the road, especially when
pulling off from a stop. Also the roads I've been riding on do have
a slight crown around the center lane marker but I have never
experienced this pull with my Honda Accord on those same roads.
Maybe I could get used to it, but why should I? This is a new car.

We'll see what the service center says when I bring it back.

...and as an employee of a civil engineer I know that most roads have a
crown in the center for drainage.

Most likely the crv has no sort of limited slip differential (neither do
most cars) and what you're experiencing is torque steer on take off combined
with the irregularities in the road (crowned as you mentioned) which combine
to make straight line driving difficult. The wider and lower profile the
tires you have on said vehicle, the worse it becomes.

eggzactly. If the pulling to the right happens under accelleration
its torque steer and there is nothing you or anyone can do. Its a
characteristic of FWD cars.

Crowning of the road is the other problem. NOt only is the width of
the tires a factor but also how far apart the wheels are. some cars
are just wide enough to ride either edge of the crown in one way or
another and it makes it seem like its always pulling to one side.

Seems like others are having the same problem with the right pull on
some CR-Vs. Here are some links I pulled up:

IT'S FIXED!!

Thankfully the 4-wheel alignment did the trick. According to the
service receipt the technicians also swapped the left front tire
with one of the rear tires (not sure if it's rear left or right) and
centered the steering wheel.

Now the car steers straight as an arrow, even over bumbs! Thanks
Honda!

Do you happen to know what specs they changed?

I had a Ford that drove like crap after an alignment.

Turned out the the camber had to be set to the outer limit of In-
Spec, rather then centered within the limits to make it drive right.

Wonder if there is some fine tuning that helps our CR-Vs?

The service receipt doesn't mention any specs on the work. All it
says is:

4-wheel alginment
adjusted tire pressure
switched tires ...
center steering
