hey guys, my name is aaron and i have been a bmw guy for most of my life (booooo), well i guess i still am anyway a few weeks ago i discovered the beautiful styling of the 92-96 prelude, i looked at turbo kits, body kits, etc and was just amazed by how cheap everything was compared to bmw stuff. but everyone told me the prelude was too heavy so i started looking at the s2000. being the guy i am, a stock car wont do, even if it is enough for me, i still need to do something. so before i get anything i want to know that it's a fun tuner car. but i dont know where to start with the s2000, such high compression on an already built engine. what are some common go fast add ons? is forced induction completely out of the question. what about suspension tuning. i need help, like i said i could talk about bmw's all day but hondas, maybe in a few years i can...hopefully also could you tell me what to look for when buying a used s and what are the engine specs like bore, stroke, etc. thanks, any help well help

"...but i dont know where to start with the s2000, such high compression on an already built engine. what are some common go fast add ons? is forced induction completely out of the question. what about suspension tuning." Interesting that you are coming from the bmw world; I was looking to buy the 330ci when I took the 2001 s2000 for a test drive. There was no comparison for me--I currently have over 107k miles on my s2k. The most bang for buck is probably a new rear gear set, choice of three at the moment: 4.3, 4.57, and 4.77 (check out http://www.ricks2k.com/products/reargears.php). The 2004 model will come from the factory with more favorable gearing. You can supercharge or turbocharge, depending on how much time you want to spend tuning. Either the Comptech or Vortech supercharger is pretty much a bolt-on installation, the Comptech is more expensive but less work. As to suspension tuning, I like the stock setup, but I don't go to the track. Coilovers are the best way to go, many from which to choose: tein, buddy club, jic, etc. If you buy used, stay away from year 2000 models, too many transmission problems. Just about any question you may have can be answered at http://www.s2ki.com/
