Just bought a new 2003 CRV. Salesman said I had to use Honda Motor Oil only in it or the warranty would be void. I looked in owners manual and found nothing about this. Any CRV owners out there know anything about this Oil or is this dealer just trying to drum up business.

It's a type of 'scare tactic' to get you to use the dealership mechanics. As long as the proper type of oil is used, and is done by a licenced mechanic who provides proof by means of a receipt that all mainainance was done properly as the maintanance schedule requires, your warranty is fine. Doing it yourself might void the warranty.

What the service man should have said was that before the first 3000 miles don't change the oil. Honda adds properties to the oil on new models to give better performance and longevity to the engine. This is was my Honda mechanic told me when I wanted to change the oil at 2500 miles on my new 2001 Honda CRV. I was going to go to Colorado at the time and didn't want to deal with an oil change while I was up there vacationing. Hence,he said "See ya when you get back...just watch the oil level." As far as just using Honda oil each time you need an oil change...that's full of junk. Hope this helps.
