I agree, every 50,000 miles or every 5 years whichever comes first.

Don't forget to change timing belt tensioner at the same time.

Hope this helps.

In regards to the two comments above for your question on when to change your honda element timing belt. it depends on which engine you have. Honda recommends that you change your timing belt on a 4 cylender engine every 100,000 miles, but no later than 105,000 miles. If you have a V6 you should change your timing belt at 125k miles and no later than 130k miles. Changing your timing belt every 50,000 miles is obserd and you will waste money if you do. replacing a timing belt is not cheep on a honda. you have to replace the timing belt the tensioners, and the water pump which can run you as low as 600.00 and as high as 1000.00 dollars. so be wise and be careful with some others information.

You guys all realize that Elements have timing CHAINS, not belts, right? Should never need replacing.

Good point on that one! The Honda Element has a timing chain instead of a timing belt so there's no really need to replace it unless it already got worn out.
