Long Story Short:
2001 Honda Civic LX
The Dealership (who wants to charge me a stupid amount of money) says that I have a leaky shock on my right rear. My extended warranty doesn't cover shocks.
I called around and looked for some other prices, and the overwhelming response from everyone? "We can't quote you a price on rear shocks, because you have rear struts." This was great news, because my warrenty covers struts. I call the warranty company back to confirm - They check their body book and say, "yep, you have struts in the back and we'll cover that."
Thinking that perhaps I just misunderstood (I understand that there are shock absorbers inside of strut), I call the dealership back and explain my findings, and ask if I was just confused? The service guy *swears* that the car has shocks, and only shocks, and that there are NO struts in the rear, at all. He assured me that there are shocks in back, struts in front. I called another Honda Dealerships Service center, where they confirmed, no struts in the back, only shocks.
So which is it? Do I have shocks in the back, or struts? And if I have shocks in the back, then why can't anyone other than Honda confirm this?
