We have a 1990 Accord LX with just over 242,000 on it. Original engine but automatic had to be replaced last summer at just over 200,000. Just wondering what kind of longevity other club members have been enjoying?

My previous car was also a '90 Accord with 195,000 miles when I traded in. The engine and manual transmission ran great (both original), the only problem was the fuel pump needs to be replaced but that's expected after so many miles. I was still getting 30-31 mpg when I traded it in. Great car!

Just out of curiosity, how much did the dealer give you in trade?

My Accord is a 96 with 59,000 miles on it (and not a single problem yet!). I guess I have a long way to go yet!

My '92 has about 165K miles, original engine that feels as strong as when it was new. Auto transmission had to be rebuilt 4 years back but since I drove it in L.A. stop-and-go for the first five years that will kill anybody's transmission early. The engine, however, couldn't care less so as long as you don't redline it or gun the accelerator on a regular basis it's not uncommon to see Honda's engines run for 250K or longer without a rebuild.

I think my only gripe that's design-related is that even with factory suspension the car sits low enough to bottom out in situations you wouldn't expect (like pulling into a driveway at over 2-3 mph). I've gotten quite a few dents in the forward exhaust as a result. I still plan on going with another Accord when I decide to sell the current one - overall this has been extremely low-maintenance in severe driving conditions.

I have an 87 LX with over 243,000 miles on it. I had to replace the manual tranny last year, and part of the power steering soon after I bought it in '93. I bought it used so figured whoever had it before me did not maintain it well, maybe. Other than that, just normal clutch and brake work, and replaced the gas pump once, and still going strong. I was thinking of trading it in, but my son (13 years) told me he wants it. It has lasted this long, so he may have a good chance of getting it.
David

I have an 89 honda accord sei.
I have 243K on it. The transmission needed rebuilding at 150K. One brake lite went out just yesterday. Thats it besides the normal oil changes and brake jobs.
I am very impressed with this HONDA. Engine feels strong still. Should make it to 300K and more.

Ken

I just bought a 1990 Honda Accord with 79,000 miles. It is replacing a 1993 Ford Taurus with 240,000 miles. Driving the Honda home on the highway it ran real well. I look forward to many many miles!

My first car was a 1980 Honda Accord. The odometer only went to 99,999 and it flipped twice while in my family. I bought a 2000 Accord almost 2 years ago and I already have 30,000 miles on it. Hope it runs as well as the ?80!
