i just bought a 89 civic 1500 4 door lx. the car runs good, has 194000 miles. when it warms up, it has a very noticable hesitation like its missing on a cyl., usually only does this on ACCELERATION...... and when idling without the a/c button on it goes from 1000 to 1500 rpm back and forth if its in neutral and you can feel it when descelerating also.... any help???? would be greatly appreciated.... i bought this car because i needed good gas milage and im a chevy guy from way back.... so help me like this car!!!!! thanx

well it could be a few things, check your timing...when was the last time you gave it a full tune up?... you also might might have dirt injecters or fuel filter. does the car backfire? if it does you might consider on checking/replacing your plugs and wires to include cap and rotor. with $45 you can take it to a mechanic and they can run it on the computer and tell you exactly what it is. that would save you time and money. let me know how it works out for you. my address is madatu_31315@...<br><br>Tony

i found out that the number 2 spark plug wire was sparking through the plastic part to the head right before it attatches to the plug.... since im broke at the moment... i wrapped a bunch of electrical tape around the thing and it cured it. get this.... i was getting on it pretty hard earlier today and at a stoplight i noticed a rattling and then a BANG and i was like OH NO!!!! but it kept running and the battery light came on..... i moved forward a little and ran over something and pulled off the road and looked and guess what? the crankshaft pulley was sitting in the road complete with alternator belt and bolt and washer. no kidding. so i gathered up the pieces and it took about 30 minutes to put it back on.
