I have a 2001 CRV and I live in the northeast (MA). When the temp drops below 20 degrees, my doors freeze.
I'll explain: pressing the door unlock button on the remote still triggers the unlock mechanism (sound made) but the locks don't unlock (the button stays down; when I try to use my key to open the lock, I can't get it to budge at all. After crawling through the hatch to start the car, I work the unluck button (lock, unlock, repeat). After driving the car for about 15 minutes, pulling the button, with the heat on full blast I can manage to get the front door buttons to the up position.
Here is the really weird part, once the button is up, my door latch still won't open easily. I have to play with it back and forth until the door will unhinge -- it is stiff and, I guess, frozen. When I get the door open for the first time, the latch won't re-hinge when I close the door unless I push the handle in manually. After a while it frees up and works fine.
Has anyone else experinced this?? Any suggestions??
As a side note, it has been fairly dry the past 4 or 5 days (no rain or snow) so the chance of moisture from melt off is unlikely.
Thanks,
Neil
