Hello,
What am I doing wrong?
I have a 2001 CR-V and I can't open the hatch door with my key. I
have asked others to open it with no avail. I can only open it with
the inside control.
Can someone help me?
Thanks,

Unless you are trying to open it with the Valet key
the car has the wrong key-cylinder in, have the dealer
replace it.

The Valet key will not open the hatch

Hope this helps

Lisette:

If the hatch-opening feature of the remote is working correctly (or at all,)
the rear hatch can be opened by holding the appropriate button down for a
FULL second or so. Make sure you are not stabbing it like a number button on
a microwave. This is a radio-wave remote control, you don't have to point
the remote at the vehicle (and you don't have to puss the button hard.)

The functional range of the remote is not a great distance, but should be
about 30 feet or more.

If the rear hatch is still NOT opening, then I'd have to ask if the other
buttons are working correctly: lock, unlock? (The same range limitations
apply, of course.)

You received two remotes when you took possession of the CR-V. I'd test the
second remote for proper functioning, too.

One battery (or remote) being bad -- possible. BOTH remotes being bad --
unlikely.

At some point (if NEITHER remote works properly, for example): your question
becomes a warranty concern for the dealer.

Good luck.

In the case that you don't have any remote to open it, from what I've seen
on my cr-v, the lock is really stiff. The few first times I opened the hatch
with the key I tought I would break the key in the lock. There seem to be a
presure on the lock.

However, make sure that you are NOT using the valet key. The valet key the
the one that is different from the 2 other ones.
