My 2006 CRV has a mine of it's own. Sometime when I go to turn the key nothing happen. There are dashboard lights. The car is in park and my foot on the brake pedal when trying to start. Then after some giggling of the shifter and what ever else comes to mine. I turn the key and it starts. I do notice you can giggle the shifter while in park. so don't know if there is a switch or contact that is bad.
Any Ideas ?

Check the connections on your battery terminals. Brush them with a wire brush and then hook them back up. Sometimes it could be a loose connection their.

I'll try anything at this piont. I hate to take it to the dealer and get a run around from them.
Will I need to reset the radio etc. after doing this?

I believe if you break contact with the radio, you'd probably need to reset the time, etc. At least you would on mine, which doesn't have a backup battery for memory, like other electronic gadgets.

I agree that it sounds like it may be an electrical connection that's not making good physical contact.

Hopefully that will work for you. I do know that I have always had to reset my radio when this has happened.

We have a 92 Accord that had similiar problem and it turned out to be the ignition switch (back). It will get worse until it won't start at all and is just dead. No click, no nothing. The electrical part of the ignition switch comes off of the mechanical part. It has a cable attached to it with plug in connector. It can be accessed from under the steering column and replaced yourself if you are pretty mechanically inclined. As I remember the part was about 70-80 dollars on the internet and about double that at the dealer.

I agree with george, prolly the ig. switch. But, There is a contact switch at the shifter, I don't have a CRV service manual so can't say where .... It could be just dirty, or failing ...

That advice to get the battery posts cleaned up with a wire brush seems good. You probably will have to reset the radio. If your battery connection is dirty then you won't get the charge you need. One of our cars did have so much dirt on the cables that had to be cleaned. The wire brush is thorough and even years of crud come off with that.
