Hi List,

Has anyone noticed any problem shifting back to 1st.  I always find shifting back to 1st a sort of a "crunchy" affair like gears do not seem to properly catch and I have to sort of coax it or hunt for it.  I've had more than 20 years experience in manual transmission and this seems to be different.  Also I still can't get over the fact that my clutch pedal seems way too high and I feel that engaging the clutch to shift takes a bit of an effort.  I went to the dealer and when I brought this up they said something about the clutch being hydraulic and couldn't be adjusted. Maybe I was vague (I'm usually vague about automotive matters).  They didn't even look.  Should I have insisted on this?

Thanks,

George

It shouldn't be anything but smooth as long as you aren't moving while
shifting back into first. Trying to shift to first while still cruising
along can sometimes be cumbersome, but it should slip right in otherwise. I
have said this before, but I find the new CRV manual transmission to be as
good or better than any other I've owned, very smooth and silky. I would
take it back if you are having trouble shifting into first at a stop.
