I need help! I'm new to the place... I am starting to research today about Honda Civics. I need a reliable daily driver car that my bf or dad can work on. I have lots of questions..
Are there lots of problems with these cars?
If so, what are the most common problems?
How's your insurance/mo on a civic?
How do you like your civic?
What year is your car, what year is the best year?
What's the difference between all the civic models?
And I think that's all the questions I have for now...

I am looking for a 2000 or older.

IMO the biggest problem i have is that my civic burns through oil quick. that's not that big of a deal though. other than that, nothing bad has happened to my car. if something happens, it's normally small and cheap to fix.

as far as the different years, it depends on your taste. i like the ek style hatchbacks, which is between 96-00. any civic is very reliable and will last you a long time as long as you keep up with everything like oil changes, tire rotations, belt changes, etc. (just like any other car really). however, if you don't know what to look for, and you want a nice honda, look for any Si. preferably a del Sol (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Well... I'm just one person but I'd have to say that a CIVIC is the car you're looking for!!!!

I am the original owner of a 1997 CIVIC EX. It has 115,000 TROUBLE FREE miles on it. I have to say that I have FAITHFULLY MAINTAINED the car throughout my ownership. When it was new, it was strictly dealership maintained.

As it grew older, I was proactive in taking care of it. For example, I had the timing belt replaced at 75,000 miles instead of waiting for it to fail. I have been faithful in doing oil changes every 3000 miles as well. i think that regular oil changes are the key to long, trouble free driving.

The car is a 5 speed manual transmission (instead of an automatic) and has the ORIGINAL clutch! I'm proud of this fact, my point being that I don't beat on the car.

In summary: Take good care of your CIVIC and your CIVIC will take good care of you.

I'm still driving the 89 Civic my wife bought new and I love it. I think the only major thing that's been done was to replace a timing belt (instead of a chain, I think).

I keep the oil level up, and it's still reliable transportation after 240,000 Kms.
