Why is there such poor upper leg support in the CRV.  The seat is 4 to 5 inches shorter that a full size PU seat.  Any solutions I really like the CRV but I don't want another vehicle with an un-comfortable seat.

I go 6-5 and have no trouble with the seats in my '02 EX. Most other
brands (Jeep Liberty, Chevy Tracker, etc) offer no head room for
someone my size, but I have plenty of headroom in my EX.

I do find the arm rest a bit annoying. It may that I had a car before
this and got used to not having one. I just pushed it up and am now
very comfortable.

It sure isn't a full size PU.  It's problem is that it is missing 4 inches of seat under my thighs.  When I mentioned this to Honda their comment was" buy this crv and then go out and get a new seat made" I like the CRV but not sure I want to buy one and throw the seats away and buy new ones.  seems like alot of work.

I'm 6'2" and 240lbs., I just adjust the seat, the two knobs on the side of
the driver's seat. It isn't a full size seat but very livable, especially
like the head room.

I have owned Hondas for years and now it is time for a new one. I
really like the '02 CRV but one thing disappointed me tremendously
during my test drive of an EX. It was the front legroom. I am 6'0"
with a 33" inseam and with the seat all the way back, there was still
not enough room to stretch my legs. This is important to me since I
drive 8 hours each way to visit the in-laws several times a year.
Maybe I am just used to the legroom in my Accords and CRX, but the
front in the CRV seems cramped. My wife feels the same way. I really
like everything else about the CRV, but this is forcing me to
consider the competition (I did test drive the new VUE and it has
lots of room up front, I even had to move the seat up a notch or
two). I wish the engineers would have taken some of the legroom out
of the rear seats in the CRV and put it up front where it belongs!

I am 6'3" and the the front of the seat is 4 to 5 inches shorter than my PU,  It is identical to our Honda Odyssey and those seats are uncomfortable too.

It's too bad that you can't experience the "V" but if it doesn't fit it
doesn't fit. You can either buy the VUE or wait for the new Pilot.
Excuse my ignorance...but what is the VUE?

I've always been curious about something. All of my friends who are
tall (5'11"+) have never been happy with any car or mini pickup seat
(probably compact SUVs too). They were always happier with those big
bench seats of their full size pickup and even the buckets of full size
SUVs. Is height a factor? Could it be the longer legs of the tall
driver? I'm 5'9" and I think my V's seats are very comfortable.

I am 5'11", but a bit long in torso and shorter in the legs. I think that the CRV seats are very comfortable once I adjusted the lumbar control so I could sit back in the seat. At most settings, it feels like the lumbar support is pushing me off the front of the seat, but with it completely retracted, I can sit back in comfort.

6'1" here, and I am very comfy int the '02 V, although I agree
with a posting I saw yesterday about the armrests being
undersized.

Don’t take
this the wrong way BUT the CR-V is not “a full size PU” it is a compact SUV (aka cute-ute)

I suspect the new Pilot will be in the high $20's/low $30's which is
out of my price range. I don't think the gas milage will be good as
the CRV either. The VUE is the new small SUV from Saturn. A very good
one for a brand new entry into the market, but not up to Honda
Quality. They do not offer a 5 speed manual in the 4 WD version
either.

I agree with this, since this is a minor complaint that I've had with my '99
(didn't notice any improvement in this area with the '02 when I checked it out.)

My CRX's seem to have another foot of front legroom!!!!

I had a '93 Civic Si, and it was "short" on legroom, as well.

I'm 6'2", and know what you mean...... I usually adjust the seat up and down
somewhat, play with the backrest angle as well, on longer trips.

I regularly do 300+ mile one-way trips in my "V".

BINGO!!!

It isn't just me then. It has happened three times in the past two months. A
little freaky at first as I thought someone had gotten in and readjusted the
drivers front seat back.

I have made it a point to physically push in on the handle and lock it down
after adjusting the back but don't know if this really helps.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the front seat movement that many people have been feeling in the 2002??

Would not think so.
The rocking movement is a little bit of play in the height adjustment
mechanisim.
This sounds like something in the seat back release lever.
Mine has not had this new problem.
As for the rocking issue, as long as I don't try to find it, it has
not bothered me much. Still hoping Honda comes up with a fix all the
same.

There is a problem with the front seats of the new CRVs.

We've put 5300 miles on ours, and have already had the driver
seat replaced once for rocking back and forth. (The passenger
side is fine).

New seat holding is better, but still not perfect. There's simply
too much give in stop and go traffic.

Dealer seemed aware of the issue, obviously we're not an
isolated case.

Bring your CRV in and have them replace the unit.
