hey, does anyone know how to remove the foot rest for the left foot in a 91 Si? i got a set of pedals that i want to install but i can't figure out how to take that out or if it's even possible to take out. (do you just pull really hard at it until it snaps off or do you need a special tool?)

i'm talking about the place where you can rest your left foot when you're not pressing on the clutch.

the other problem i'm having right now is removing the front rotors. the screw that holds it in is on extremely tight!! and i mean extrememly!! i've tried spraying it with some lubricant and tapping on the screw to loosen it. the driver keeps slipping off the head of the screw. i can try using a power tool for it, but i'm afraid that i might strip it with the power screw driver. any suggestions?

thanks all,
91Si

any help is much appreciated

Ok there is a cover on the foot rest. Yake a screw driver and pry the cover off and there are two nuts to loosen and the foot rest will come off.
As for the screws, get a drill and use a drill bit about the size of the screw head. Drill the head off and pull the rotor off. What is left of the screw can be taken out with your fingers. Don't forget to get new screws for when you put the rotor back on. You can get them at your local Honda dealer. Im not sure how much but im sure it wont hurt you wallet too bad.
Glenn

glenn, are you sure prying the cover off with a screw driver isn't going to break the cover? i tried pulling it off really hard with my hands..but not too hard cause i didn't want to crack it.

with the screws, so there's no other way to save the screws but to drill them out? :(

thanks, as always!

Pry the pedal cover gently with the screwdriver, and it should come up, unless someone glued it down.

If you don't want to destroy the rotor screws go to Sears or some other tool supply house and purchase one of those square bit screw extractors that looks a little smaller than the phillips slot on your screws. Don't get the spiral threaded kind of extractor. Those just break off and make things worse. The kind you want looks like a square if you look at it nose on, and it has a point on the end. Hammer it into the screw and it should seat into the slots. You can then take a pair of vice-grips and twist the sucker out.

the screws on the rotor can be taken off with an impact screwdriver. you put it on the screw and hit it with a hammer. you can find it at sears or some hardware store like that. or like you said, you can drill em out and go buy new ones.

believe it or not, the idiots at sears said "impact driver? umm, you mean this?" and they show me the power tools section. explain to them how it's like a screwdriver and you hit the top of it and it turns that force into a turning motion. then the guy says "umm, i don't think we have that. i've never heard of that".

freakin idiots!! i managed to get one of them off out of the four i need to remove (in the front). couldn't get the other ones out so i gave up.
