I have recently purchased a 97 accord from a good buddy. The car has several mods on it. it is lowered and i recently discovered that is had a cold air intake when I drove it through a puddle and it shut down. Now when I try to start the motor it just makes a clunk sound. So my best guess is that I sucked a bunch of water in the motor. What is the best way to drain out the water? So I can get it back on the road.

Wow I have never heard of that happening. Wouldn't it just turn over and not start if it was flooded? I have never heard a flooded motor that makes a clunking sound.

I did have a car that never would run when it got really wet or flooded. I always had to pull over and wait. I don't know if there is a way to drain it. Did you take off the air filter and let the air get into it?

Ooooooo...you might need a new engine...what happens is that water can get sucked up and make it all the way to the engine block then when the piston comes up on its compression stroke all shit hits the fan. Water doesn't compress as easily as air does. The pressurized water can bend the valves and blow gaskets.

This happened to my brother in his camaro during a Texas rainstorm. He too had a really low cold air intake. His insurance paid for an engine replacement.

Good luck with it.

Man that would be awfully if it ended up being the engine. I didn't know that it could happen that way. Learn something new everyday.
