Hi,

Thank you for this forum site. I have a 2003 Odyssey, which I LOVED until recently. This past summer the overhead / open door lights began flickering, erratically on and off, and lasting for less than half a minute. The dealer told me I need to leave the car with the mechanic for 2-3 weeks (at $95.+/hr.!!) until it happens again (can you imagine?!).

After Googling "flickering lights 2003 Odyssey", it appears that this problem may be rare, but not unheard of:
I found this discussion board from 2004, http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t254718.html

Any pointers or advice is most welcome.

Thank you in advance,
T:-)

Sorry I don't have any specific experience with that problem, but whenever I have an intermittent malfunction like that I try to wait until the problem is constant to avoid higher repair bills.

Of course I wouldn't wait if it was a safety issue.

Best of luck with this problem.

The insulation for the wiring to the RF door switch may be worn through, allowing the bare wire to contact the body, therefore completing the ground circuit. That would cause the light to flicker. Goodluck!

Flickering lights would cause you to be a little distressed. He said it is a wire that's making the complete circuit. He obviously knows about electricity. The circuits were taught to me by my girls. He is right about finding the wire and fixing it so it won't flicker.
