With less than 1000miles on my Fit basic 5 speed I'm getting 19-24-28, and 30MPG with no use of 5th gear in city driving. To my suprisei I got 34MPG on a recent road trip carrying a canoe, with rolling backups, and one longish delay. What type of city milage is anyone else getting. FITDC

My Mom gets about 30 miles in town and 35 miles per gallon on the highway. She does mostly highway driving so that is pretty good, I think.

That is excellent mileage for your car in the city and on the highway. My Ford Freestar is less than that for city driving. It get around 26 miles per gallon. I haven't done any highway miles on it this year at all.

26 miles per gallon seems quite low don't you think?

You're probably right it might be more. I hardly ever get it on the highway anymore though. It's always back and forth to schools, etc. Thankfully all the schools I drive to are close, not far.

I have a 2008 Fit Sport 5-speed manual with about 14,000 miles on it. My city driving average is about 30 mpg. My highway average is typically in the 34-35 mpg range depending on how well I adhere to the posted speed limits. I have gotten almost 37 mpg average on a tank of gas. But variation in fill-ups from tank to tank can result in dips and spikes in mileage. Overall averages are a better indication.

26 mpg is actually very good for a Ford Freestar in city driving. It's EPA estimated fuel economy is in the 17 mpg (city) to 24 mpg (highway) range.

Your Fit gets great gas mileage for city and highway driving. It seems you fill up less and less than me with my Ford. I am so thankful for it. It probably does around 17 mpg to 26 mpg. You can put more air pressure in your tires to get better gas mileage right? You could also add double spark spark plugs, I think. Lots of people want to know easy ways to increase your gas mileage.

That's awesome gas mileage to have in your Honda Fit. Now we know why everyone is buying Honda Fits quickly in the US and everywhere else. The gas mileage alone makes it outstanding , and it in another class of car. Well the people buying these will actually be saving money in the long run.

I'm up to over 15,000 miles on my 2008 Fit Sport now. Lots of trips between Detroit and Indianapolis due to family illnesses. I find that I get between 37 mpg and 40 mpg if I set the cruise controll below 70 mph on the highway and make sure my tires are at 32 psi minimum.

It is possible to get better mileage with higher tire pressures. However, this causes a rougher ride and can cause changes in handling characteristics. Overinflating your tires can also cause the center portion of the tread to wear out more quickly.

It's boring, but the simplest way to get higher gas mileage is to drive conservatively and stay below the speed limits.

I have heard good things about the Fit. That is pretty good mileage that they seem to be getting.
