Hey Guys   I went to the shop and  I have decided what I am going to do.  I am going to save up and put in a Type R engine.  I am gonna hold off on exhaust and just have them add a DC one to it when they do the swap.  I figure I need to save money for 6 months in order to get it done but it beats doing the bolt on parts thing.  In the meantime I am just gonna put in a good sound system, and try to find some good 18 inch wheels and tires to put on.   I was asking about the chip thing and apparently as you guys said ( thanks btw ) chips are good for some things on some cars but for mine it would be a bad idea if I ever wanted to add nos or turbo.  So no chip and just gonna get sound and wheels first, then in like 6 months drop a type R and new exhaust in it.  Hopefully in like a year or so I can have a type R engine with turbo, nice wheels, bumping sound and pull 11s at the track :)   Thanks for the help guys !   Brad

just an FYI, but if you get a supercharger put on the motor, the air intake that comes with it replaces any 'bolt-on' that you may already have had. so, if you're serious about something like that, don't get the C.A.I. by itself as a bolt-on. if you want to know what big brands are out there for superchargers, some (but not all) of them are: Jackson Racing, Vortech, and Greddy (or am i thinking they make more turbo's?). if i put one on my ride, i'd get a J.R. one, but that's just me. right now i'm just N/A (naturally aspirated).

Thanks man   I am not going to add anything but a sound system and alarm now.  I am just gonna save as much as I can, maybe get a 2nd job to help speed the process up on getting that swap done sooner rather then later.  They told me about 7k for the engine, clutch, and a bunch of other stuff.  Hell superchargers are like another couple grand so I am probably looking at, unless I find one at a junk yard like a couple years to get this ride the way I want it.  I just hope I will be glad I did it in a couple years :)   Brad

7K!!!  Those motors are 3 grand. Just get one and put it in yourself.  You are going to be disappointed with it anyway. For 7K you could make the D16 fast as hell!!  You could have a 12 sec car with the D16 for around 7-8 grand. I would do that.  Or buy a different car that has a better platform...  Oh, and I had the JR supercharger on a D16Y8 and my car could barely beat minorly modded GSR's!  A stock eclipse gsx will kill them both!

Dre .... Easy boy hehe.   The motor is a type R and its 3800.00.   The labour is 850.00  the rest is for the clutch, wiring, and the other little things that keep problems from happening, not to mention a new DC Exhaust.  But I am gonna try to find an engine myself first.  But its like 6k for the motor, clutch, exhaust and other stuff.  I was thinking like 1k for the wheels/tires I want since I am looking at 17s now.   The good thing is that if I get the Type R, or the cheaper GSR then I can always get a turbo on them and then I will have a quick ride :)  Hey I have been listening and thinking on this stuff quite a bit and I thought it was your guys thought that if I couldnt afford a new car to just instead do a swap ?   Brad
