GOTLAND, Sweden, June 25, 2007– Honda's next-generation FCX Concept fuel cell vehicle made its European driving debut at the Gotland Ring in Sweden. The vehicle is highly efficient, with an energy efficiency of around 60 percent; approximately three times that of a petrol-engine vehicle, twice that of a hybrid vehicle and 10 percent better than the current FCX.

Honda FCX Concept

The FCX Concept is a key stage in Honda's development of fuel cell technology and will be the basis for a totally new fuel cell vehicle which the company is currently developing. Limited marketing of this new vehicle is on target to begin in 2008 in Japan and the U.S. and the focus will be to deliver a new dimension in environmentally friendly driving pleasure not found with petrol-engine vehicles.

To meet Honda's objectives for significant gains in both environmental and driving performance, the FCX Concept is equipped with a V Flow fuel cell platform. In previous fuel cell stacks the hydrogen and the water formed in electricity generation flowed horizontally, this vehicle features a vertical-flow design. This allows gravity to assist in discharging the water that is produced, resulting in a major improvement in water drainage - key to high-efficiency fuel stack performance - and achieving a higher output from a smaller package.

This new fuel cell stack is 20 percent smaller and 30 percent lighter than the current FCX FC Stack, yet its power output is 14kW greater. The drive motor has been positioned coaxially with the gearbox for a more compact design, with output increased by 15kW. Overall, the power plant is about 180kg lighter than that of the current FCX and about 40 percent smaller in volume. The V Flow fuel cell platform also has allowed the designers to create an elegant, low-riding, sedan form that would have been difficult to achieve in a conventional fuel cell vehicle. The result is improved energy efficiency and performance along with a more spacious interior.

Low-temperature startup has also been significantly improved, enabling cold-weather starts at temperatures 10°C lower than the current FCX- as low as minus 30°C.

As an auxiliary power source, the FCX Concept carries a compact, high-efficiency lithium ion battery, contributing to increased power output and a more compact power plant. These efficiency improvements to major power plant components give the vehicle a travel range approximately 30 percent greater than the current FCX.

The comfortably large cabin complete with futuristic styling also includes seat upholstery and door linings made from Honda Bio-Fabric, a plant-based material that offers outstanding durability and resistance to sunlight damage.

Thanks for posting the link.

I find concept cars particularly interesting since seeing some of the vintage ones auctioned off at the Jackson-Barrett Auto show on TV.

This does sound like an interesting car. I cannot what to see more about it. Hopefully it is not just a concept car and can go into regular production someday.

The Honda FCX Clarity is more than a concept.

Source: http://automobiles.honda.com/fcx-clarity/owning/

The FCX Clarity is ready for the road. A limited number of
these groundbreaking vehicles will be leased to Southern
Californians starting during the summer of 2008.

The reason for this limited initial release is that in order to drive a fuel cell vehicle, you have to be able to refuel it. And since these clean cars do not run on gasoline, you can’t just stop off at your regular corner gas station to fill up. Hydrogen fuel stations are critical to the deployment of a fuel cell car and, as it stands now, stations accessible to the public are still quite limited.

Therefore, only customers currently residing in the Torrance, Santa Monica and Irvine areas who meet additional qualification criteria will be eligible to take an FCX Clarity home. Honda wants to ensure that FCX Clarity drivers will be able to take their vehicles in for service at participating dealers and have convenient access to refueling stations. Leasing will be handled through American Honda Motor Co., Inc. in conjunction with local dealers. Maintenance will also be covered by the three-year $600/month lease.

Hi there,

I think this information may help you out

Have you ever heard of HHO fuel that has got to be the best way to save on gas prices.?
? Imagine the savings. It will cost you about $160, or two tanks of gas to install an HHO

conversion kit

Hydrogen Car Kit - Save Money and Improve MPG Massively
Hydrogen car kit empowers your car to run on water and avoid oil as fuel. A vehicle however
will not be able to run on water alone. There needs to be a mixture of gasoline and water to
enable it to run smoothly.

Even the Water Fuel Conversion Kits - How Using Water As Fuel Helps Cut Your Gas Consumption

Recently, there is increased awareness among many drivers of a technology that uses plain

water tosupplement the cars' gasoline consumption. Called a water fuel conversion kit, it is

a simpleadd-on to your current car engine that uses your car battery to carry out an

electrolysis on water to produce Hydroxy gas (HHO). This Hydroxy gas is used to supplement

the burning ofgasoline in the car's engine.

Hydrogen generator kit for car can be better than gasoline or oil additives to raise gas
mileage. When you make or do it on your own, you can save money on gas but will save lots
of dollars on the kit and reproduce the system for other automobiles on your own.

saving money should be what everyonr thinks off and I have done this by using all ideas from
my free Ebook - http://www.waterfuelkit.net

I purchased the available eBooks that teach you how to run your car on water and installed

one on my "chevy 350 small block," it's pretty easy.
