An item in yesterday's newspaper describes Honda's expanded lineup in the
United States next year. "Honda will add the Latitude small wagon, based on
the Stream model sold in Japan and Europe, and the four-door Acura TSX
sedan..." ... "Honda is adding five new or redesigned vehicles this year to
try to maintain U.S. growth, including the gasoline-electric Civic Hybrid
small car, Civic Si hatchback, Pilot and Element sport-utilities and Accord
sedan." While I've seen/heard of the Pilot here in Canada, I'm not familiar
with the Element.

Yeah, there's been speculation about the Stream for a while and I guess
Honda is going to bring it here after all as they have filed for the
Latitude name.

The Element is new for 2003 and I have some information on my site. It
is a "funky" car in my opinion but sure looks very useful with its large
cabin space and price to value ratio.

Check the specs. Suspension, wheelbase, track, engine, 4WD system,
etc.
The CR-V and the Element are both from the same "Global Compact
Platform". My bet is they will be just about mechanical twins.

The MDX, and the Pilot are both from the Odyssey platform (forget the
name right now), but are more similar (Almost identical in
specifications and mechanical aspects) to each other than to the
Odyssey.

I asked Mr. CR-V/Element Engineer the same question when he showed me
the Element a while back and he said they don't quite share as much
components as we all think. Perhaps we'll have to really wait and crawl
below the cars to see how different or similar they are.

Oh well...global platform it is, just like how they shared the Accord's
basic platform for the numerous vehicles Honda makes!

Cheers!
