95 Accord EX, 2.2L VTEC for a while, my car would intermittently NOT crank on the first turn of the key, but did so on the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. now, it won't crank at all no matter how many times i try...just a click. the battery seems ok. i still jumpstarted it, but no luck. i'm thinking it may be related to the starter/relay. does anyone know where the starter relay is located, if there is such a thing? i no longer have the label for my fuse/relay box under the hood so i dont know which is which in there. please help!

Battery terminals clean and tight? Battery good? If so, I'd put a meter or test light on the Black/white wire at the starter solenoid. If you have 12 volts there with the key at "Start" then the starter solenoid is bad, or the stater motor has a dead segment. I believe only 5-speeds have a relay in the starter solenoid wire, of course if your car has some kind of aftermarket alarm, that's the first place you should look. Also could be the neutral safety/shirt interlock on an auto trans car.

The starters on M/T Accords of your vintage are not uncommon to fail. Best to check it out properly first though. Good luck...

On the B/W wire, I measured about 7.5V while it's attached to the starter, and 12V when disconnected. While I was at it, I put in a new battery, but sure enough, that did not help. Does that mean the starter's ok?

I think what you're seeing is likely voltage drop from high resistance in the starter/solenoid. Probably smart to check back along the circuit toward the ignition switch to make sure your not dropping voltage along the way (check at the connectors that the blk/wht goes through). Again, an aftermarket starter bypass spliced into the Blk/wht under the dash would be the first place to look. Otherwise, my guess is the starter has failed. Good luck, Kevin

One last thing. More than once, I've chased a no-crank situation, only to realize that the engine is locked up tight. I'd assume this is not your problem, but make sure the engine has oil and turns over freely. >
