I need some help I was driving tonight in the rain and the engine just died on me. It will crack but will not start. Any help would be appreciated.

I had this happen when I was driving my Nissan 240SX one day. Were you by any chance using the radio or the lights? If so, did the radio shut off or the lights dim just before the car died? I’m thinking you might have a problem with your alternator or the battery. Auto Zone or Advance Auto will test them for you for free if you’ll remove the parts and take them in to them.

You may need new plug wires and/or a new distributor cap. Try letting the engine bay dry out and she if she will catch. If it is still wet get her to a dark area (or wait till after dark) and look under the hood while someone is cranking the engine... you may see sparks along the wires or distributor cap. I had this problem once and I stuck a trouble light on top of the engine and closed the hood on it. 20 minutes later I removed the light and the car started fine... the heat form the light bulb dried her out perfectly.
