Has anyone any experience of remedying this problem? Unfortunately it means I cannot change the clock, or switch the screen off which is very irritating - and everyone who gets into the car comments on it! I've taken it in for repair, but was told it would have to be sent away and could cost up to £1000.

Any other suggestions please?

It is not under warranty? What about a dvd player cleaner? Would that help at all?

Thanks for your suggestion, but the car is out of warranty (5 yrs. old) - I could try the cleaner though. Will let you know.

Good luck. I hope that works for you. I used one for my cd player and that helped a lot with it working again.

I just fixed a similar problem on my CRV exec. (you will need your radio code to do this though)

Remove and strip down the Sat Nav unit and clean it's lens with a cotton bud. No more problem hopefully.

Of course try the CD disc cleaner first which may save you stripping this complex unit.

Cost: One cotton bud and an hour. (maybe a cd cleaner disc @ a fiver)

Hello everybody, I'm new to this forum so please be gentle (IMG:style_emoticons/default/s11.gif)

I just fixed a similar problem on my CRV exec. (you will need your radio code to do this though)

Remove and strip down the Sat Nav unit and clean it's lens with a cotton bud. No more problem hopefully.

I tried the solution advised above (after the CD cleaner) but now have a different problem.

My Honda CRV SatNav unit was showing the dreaded "DVD Disc Is Reading An Error" message so I dis-mantled the unit (as per instructions on this page) and cleaned the laser head with some lens cleaner and a cotton bud. I accessed the DVD Laser by removing the spring assembly that holds the disk in the drive and then the laser is easily accessible. Re-assembling the spring assembly was a bit fiddly but it went back the same OK (I think).

The DVD Error message has now disappeared and the radio works but the unit will not budge from the start-up safety screen. Usually after about a minute, OK is displayed on the bottom left of the screen and, after pressing the Enter button, the current location map is displayed. However, OK is not now displayed on my unit but there are no error messages stating NO DVD Disc in drive or DVD Disc error. The DVD disc loads and ejects without a problem but it seems as though maybe the drive is not turning.

Does anyone please have any ideas ?

Thank You
