Here's the info I've gathered. Double clutching
must be used by cars with an unsyncronized
transmission. It shouldn't hurt any car to do it but I don't
think it will help. Think of it this way....You're at
the line ready to go. First gear, the clutch is in
VVROOM you rev it up. The flag drops and your off. Now
it's time to shift. You can either engage the clutch,
shift, let it off and floor it or engage, shift to
neutral, let off the clutch, hit the gas, let off the gas,
push the clutch, shift, and floor it. If you can
double clutch in the same amount of time then just
shifting normally then it may be beneficial but I figure
the quicker you get into gear the quicker you go. As
far as the fast and the furious it is, after all,
just a movie. It may have some significance or may
have just been a good line. The movie was fairly true
to life but at the same time there were some
unbelievable scenes.
