Hi guys!

When I start my 93 accord it runs fine, RPM shoots up to 1500 and stays roughly around there. However, Immediatly once I have driven for a while, when I disengage the gear the idle drops to about as low as it can without the car dying. It has not done so yet, however I am rather worried as my car needs to run every day for the next month without fail (exams) (of course it happens now.)

By the way, my car ran completey out of gas (indicator light never showed up (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ) and this did some interesting stuff to the engine, wasnt able to start it until i sprayed some "starter gas" into the air intake.

What could be the problem? Is there any fix that I could attempt? (my experience with the engine = replacing clutch pump)

I realize that there is a post a little further down asking about High idle but im not sure if this is the same case.

Thanks!

IAC, first and foremost. The idle speed is regulated by the car according to load. When the car knows that there is more load (eg, the AC is on), it will open the IAC valve more to raise the idle. It sounds like the IAC is partially plugged up so that when the car tries to lower the idle it ends up almost stalling the car. The IAC is on the throttle body assembly and can be removed and cleaned with some throttle body or carb cleaner and a wire brush.

Ok thanks alot!

Im having trouble tracking down the IAC though, I am using a chilton book (not really a mechanic.)

Is the IAC the same thing as the EACV? Electronic Air control valve?
