My d16y7 is making a bad clicking noise as it rises in rpms,its not the top end tho, can anyone help?
its not the valves or the rocker arms or the rocker guides i dont think... please im trying to get my car track ready for spring after i get this done im going to follow up with a injen turbo...

Do a compression check and a leak down test. Could be something as simple as the valves out of adjustment, or something as bad as the rings or headgasket.

Have you heard of a mechanic's stethescope. The obvious first response would be valve lash, but you say it's not the top end - great, but then where is the sound coming from?

I looked up the mechanic's stethoscope. It finds the noises in the car engine. You knew that already. If he had one he could tell where the noise is at. It looks just like a doctor's stethoscope. Here's a link, but you can see what it looks like.
