Hi All, Im leaning strongly towards the CRV but have
some interest in the Liberty. Does anyone have an
opinion on one over the other? I do not plan to tow
nor go off-road. Thanks!!! jp

We looked @ the Liberty & took one f/a drive but found it didn't ride like a CRV does nor wiil the Jeep get 28 mpg like the Honda!

So we've had it for going on 2yrs hasn't been in the shop for anything & am very happy we bought it!

Well Bob,

I'll bet you $5.00 that you bought a 2WD CRV.  You should have bought a Civic.  It would have even gotten better gas milage!

Sincerely,

How did you come up with that conclusion? This premise
is ridiculous.

I have own CRV and Civic vehicles and they are nothing
alike.

Craig,

Want my address where to send the $5.00?

I'm in NW Ohio & bought a 93 Intrepid (new) wich served us great & in 96 it got traded in on a Jimmy 4wd which after 3yrs & 13 visits to the dealer got traded on a

00 Grand Cherokee which after 2yrs & 8 visits to the dealer got traded for the CRV

which is a 4wd & I put a snow plow on plow driveways with.

So far it hasn't been to the dealer in 20,000 mi which both the Jimmy & GC  got homesick & wanted to see the dealer.

Hey,I don't blame you for being upset,I tried buy an American product to support Americans but I need something dependable too!!!!

I often wonder if the electronics put in American cars(made you know where) are 2nd class parts made for a short life?

It's nice to hear that you didn't mention any problems with your Chrysler made product.  Jeeps are heavy compared to a CRV or RAV because of the way that they are designed.  By the way, what does your owners manual say about you carting around a plow?  I have to think that it is hard on your front end.

The premise comes from the platform that your CRV is built on.

Ahhh how simplistic! The fact that the CRV and the
Civic share the same chasi does not make them the
same! There are many aspects between the two that are
totaly different. Have you ever driven either? They do
not drive, feel, behave alike.

Are you joking?

Are you compating the quality of HONDA with the total
lack of quality of the Chrysler products?

And I have owned both so I speak of experience. I have
owned 5 HONDAs ane 4 Chryslers. I do not know what a
HONDA mechanic looks like, I am on a first name basis
with a couple of Chrysler mechanics. And resale? Oh
my!

You are in a HONDA owner forum.....you need to be in a
Chrysler owner forum assuming that such exists!

my opinion... if you DO NOT plan to go offroad or tow stuff, then get the CR-V,
if you plan on constantly going offroad or maybe towing a boat regularly, then
get the Jeep.

however, on the CR-V, you can take it light offroading, and it's a lot of fun.
so, i would still recommend the CR-V.

Bing and I have taken the Liberty offroad, and i know Bing will agree with me,
the Jeep will beat the CR-V, hands-down, on offroad trails. but, on overall
value, ride quality, build quality, gas mileage, just about 90% of other
categories, the CR-V is a top winner.

Can someone elaborate as to why for
offroading the Jeep Liberty would beat the CR-V?

The Liberty has a full frame.  The front A-arms are made of cast iron instead of stamped metal, and the Liberty will not twist or bend when 2 offsetting wheels are dangling in the air.  Read your owners manual before buying the crv if you even remotely intend on doing any "off roading"  It says that is voids their warranty.  What is their definition of off roading?

Its the way the AWD system is designed. If you manage to get one tire
on dry pavement and the other stuck somehow, the AWD will never kick
in. This is required to distribute torque to the rear wheels. So
unless both front tires are skidding, you are effectively driving a
front-wheeler.

I recently traded in my Suzuki GV for the CRV. While I get better
ride quality and gas mileage, I still miss the "go anywhere" low-
range shifter of the Suzuki.

Maybe Honda shoudl introduce a 4x4 on demand switch similar to the
one offered on Highlanders...

Cheers,
Osman

they do offer the 4X4 on demand, but for the Pilot and the MDX only. they
should also do it for the CR-V, but then again it will heatup the RT4WD
differential
