IIRC, weren't the 1997s the first year for the CRVs, and didn't they have a 120hp engine?  I thought they bumped that to 140hp in the 1998-2001, then up to 160hp  in the 2002+. I seem to recall two years of engine improvements

Mr. Turner, however, is an expert. ;o) .  I think he's right about the change in power happening in the 99s.

The man owns two honda vehicles, as does his family, and to my knowledge has known nothing but Honda vehicles since his drivers license days!  I'm pretty sure every article of clothing has either an "HONDA" or at least an "H" on it.  Honda posters cover the walls, and Honda designed cars occupy the shelves.  This guy even makes sure his lawnmowers are Honda!  In short, I'd tend to believe Stephen in this case. ;o)

(blushes)  haha!  Well I have had alot of experience with many
different Honda vehicles...and might even bleed Honda "blue" if I was cut.

Just for the record:

97-98  126hp

99-01 146hp  (higher compression)

02 160hp (i-VTEC)

01 CR-V LX NBP

Erik, I will concur with you submission of  Honda's No. one fan. He
practically forced me to buy a 02 EX just so he could drive it. It was'nt
that tough a sale I must admit. He has a passion for the world to drive
honda, even though he just recently became a share holder. Honda should
have given him the stock for free as I sure he has made lots of sales for
HMC's interest. At least he should get a free stock certificate. Any high
ranking Honda Corp officers please take note.
