I have a 2000 CRV and i am not happy with the Engine
performance. There are basically 2 complaints

1. There is a lot of noise when i accelerate CRV from
a complete stop but the main complain is that the
engine does not sound very smooth with my Radio off.

2. The Engine seems to be a little sluggish.

I think CRV is too heavy for the Engine capacity.
I bought the vehicle as i was told by dealer that
it generates 146 horses but i think it does that at
very high RPM. I have never seen Engine RPM going
above 3500. I have automatic transmission.

Dont know why honda sells an underpowered vehicle
in US.

Is there any way to increase engine power and
accleration. I do not care if the mileage goes down
a little.

Easy answer, keep your foot down longer and harder ! My 1999 auto regularly
hit's 7000rpm without problem. Accelerates smoothly to 80MPH pulling
reasonably well, and continues on to 100MPH with relative ease, for
something with the aerodynamics of a brick. It will happily carry on to
110MPH without a head wind. This is far in excess of the majority of similar
diesel powered 4WD vehicle's quoting 200HP +.

Jackson Racing Supercharger... though I don't thinkn they make one for the
latter engine in the CR-V, but the time may come... boosts hp by about
50%!!!!

Jackson does make one for the later engine. I put one in and it has the v6
power it needs. it also has a special check valve that allows the
supercharger to freewheel when not under load thereby not robbing power
unless it is under boost. This makes for little change in gas mileage and
great change in performance, when you push it.
