After doing much research on this group, my wife and I decided to
purchase a new 2002 CR-V EX. When I called my local dealership from
which I purchased our last three new Hondas, I was told they were
selling for $1000 over the MSRP (But I could get one at sticker). I
felt really special to be told I could buy a car at list. I have
bought many new vehicles over the years and am accustomed to paying
up to $500 over invoice (not cost!) This will probably change our
choice of vehicles. It has already changed my opinion of this
dealership.

Has anyone else experienced this attempt at price gouging or is this
just an isolated incident.

Charlie...

I wasn't all that happy paying FULL STICKER for our two new 2002 CRV's
either BUT I'm hoping that you do get what you pay for...

As to getting a vehicle for under sticker. It should be possible if it's a
vehicle that most people wouldn't want anyway ;-)

I am a COSTCO member and was hoping to save some money by utilizing their
auto buying service. If you read the fine print a dealer may EXCLUDE
specific vehicles from this special pricing and guess which one was, the
2002 CRV of course....
