hi guys, i'm new here and i got a problem :( i have a 95 honda civic dx coupe, it has overheating problem and i need to add a coolant every about 2 DAYS. there is no leakage sign, and i also bring it to honda service center and they did some more test (pressure test,etc) and they said they didn't find any problem either. finally one of my friend told me if theres no leakage or problem sign in everything, maybe the prblem gonna be inside (leakage in head gasket or something, i'm not really sure). with this thought in my mind, i'm just gonna try a cooling system "no-leak solution" that we can buy anywhere (walmart,kmart,etc). am i in the right track or no? and since i'm not really understand about all of these, i think i might gonna need help from you guys. thx a lot. hsw21

I would say head gasket and suggest you stay away from the stop-leak junk.

Yeah, sounds like a blown/leaking head gasket.  The water has to go somewhere if it is disappearing so it stands to reason its into the head.  I had the same thing happen to my '95 EX.  No problems since replacement.  The good thing is now you have an excuse to get the head shaved(should do it anyway for new gasket especially if it has gotten overly hot) for more compression(not sure what is a good amount) and can get the ports matched and cleaned up.   Douglas Traylor

Well... I know I will never use it again. A garage "fixed" my radiator with the stuff. Unfortunately the rad having a hole and overheating the engine was only part of my problem. The head gasket also needed replacing. I put in a new head gasket and had perfect compression and a nice working engine. But it was damn hard to get any heat from the engine to the passenger area(??). So then I parked the car for a couple of months (with regular run ups during the summer) and beat around in my del Sol. Fall came again and I replaced my engine with a nice one from a scrapyard.   Well, with the still powerful sun my engine wanted to heat up... a lot and often. So I replaced the thermostat... a little help but still running hot a lot (and putting out very little heat inside the car) So my mechanic looked at my 2 year old rad which appeared in mint conditon... hmmm.... he pulled off the lower hose and the rad was near choked off at each of the little tubes that are supposed to let the coolant flow to cool off (fins??? whatever). Ok, new rad is needed. (I had asked that the pinhole in the rad be fixed by soldering originally but it was now obvious that it wasn't done that way.) Now the car ran perfectly... except I had to spend the winter driving the car and never being able to take my coat off... it was just not warming up. The following December (Almost 2 years after the original leak and head gasket) my girlfriend flipped the car so I took to it and pulled the heater core... it was gummed up as well with stop-leak.   Sooo... in my opinion that stuff can cause more trouble then it's worth. If you can, have your radiator removed and repaired with solder, I did that to my bikes rad in '94 and it's still holding up fine.   Your results may vary.   Ren
