Hi everyone, I need some advice. I have an 2002 civic HX, 1.7 sohc v-tec engine. The check engine light came on. I took the car to a parts store that does a free computer scan which showed that the number 1 O2 sensor was bad. I think it said something about the sensor's heater. When I was about to buy the part, I was told it costs $250.00 because it is for the HX??. The other civic O2 sensors are about $50.00!. Two questions - if the car runs fine and still gets the same great mileage, do I have to change it? If I have to change it, will another sensor work?

Yes car will run fine. Down side is the CEL. But other then that you wont have a problem unless you have an Emissions Check. Then you may have to get it fixed if you were to fail. But i think HX are like an Economical part of a civic, and i would think that another o2 would work the same. But they could of made and hxs alil dif. So i would get the cheaper and put it on. What would it hurt.
