I am very interested in the EX-CRV and I am considering buying a new
one. I would like to know if anyone knows about future changes in the
2001 model. Is there going to be more horsepower, or other
improvments, etc, or perhaps even a V6 in the making? I am trying to
decide if it would be worth waiting for the new model year being that
its only another 4 months or so. When does the new models come out?
I would appreciate your inputs and thanks in advance.

Like most Japanese "made" vehicles I wouldn't expect the 2001 CR-V being
available until early to mid 2001.
Of course, they could decide to make the 2001 CR-V at a "new" plant in
Alabama but don't "hold your breath" for an early release from there. The
"new" BMW sport utility is being made in Spartanburg, South Carolina (HOME
OF THE Z3), competition from Honda in Alabama? THE PREVIOUS STATEMENTS ARE
"ONLY" MY PERSONAL GUESSES!

A 6-cylinder would be nice but gas will continue to be worsening problem in
years to come, so I'll stick with a 4-cylinder 5-speed CR-V EX myself.

In the mean time, I'll continue working on a recent purchase of a 1993
Nissan 240SX SE/LE convertible. Hope to add it to my site in a few weeks.
PS- The Borbet Type T wheels look GREAT (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

According to my dealer and his Honda rep there will be no real changes for
the 2001 model other than standard side air bags, although there could be a
hybrid engine (like the Insight's IMA technology) available in the CRV as
early as midyear. The 2001 CRV's will be in stores either in late Sept. or
early Oct. and a "new" CRV model will be released in 2002.

Ok, and now a shameless plug: For the latest in Honda (and Acura) news
please visit my website at: http://www.HondaBeat.com - it's updated pretty
much daily.

Thanks,
Ellen Emerson
