Hope someone can help me with this problem.
I have a 1992 Accord 2.0i Auto with 110K miles. The car has been great uptil now, but recently 2 problems occured.
The heating stopped working so the car blew out only cold/slightly warm air. The temp guage on the dash was mainly pointing downwards, but rose occationally (only slightly) which coincided with the slightly warmer air. Around the same time, another problem appeared where the car would stall whislt driving, even at high speed. All the lights on the dash would come on and the car would stop - quite frightening as the steering locks up too.
I thought that these 2 issues were related and thought that maybe the car was switching off to prevent it from overheating. Anyway, I changed the termostate and this seems to have fixed the heating and the temp guage now shows correctly; although the heating is not as good as before. The stalling problems still remains. I can leave the car idling and its stall usually after 15-20 minutes. sometimes, it won't start and you have to leave it for a while.
I had a 1993 Accord Aerodeck 2.0i with a similar problem (heating was fine) which was traced to the fuel relay, except this never stalled on me and always started fine from cold. Just occationally, it would not start after you'd been driving round for a while - usually when I went to get some gas.
It could be the same thing and people have said - fuel pump, ECU, coil, distributer, but where do you start and its gets expensive trying to change these bits.
Hope someone has some ideas
kind regards
